Claire Wood, of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer a year ago. Her friends have been a huge support throughout her illness. Around most people she has to put on a mask of coping but with them she is able to cry and laugh and share her thoughts and fears. But she is now concerned that their sorrow when she dies will burden them. She says: 'It's one of the unspoken consequences of my illness that I feel a grave responsibility for causing sadness and anxiety in my friends. I'd rather they did not mourn for me but simply accepted my gratitude and love and hopes for their future.' 14-year-old child-bride to face death penalty for killing 35-year-old husband she'd just wed???

Prosecutors allege she laced a meal she had prepared for a post-wedding celebration with rat poison - which is said to have killed three others. The reported deaths have been combined into one murder charge. But the trial has angered activists who claim a girl who married a man more than 20 years her senior should be treated as a victim. The case was opened yesterday with testimony from a seven-year-old child who says she was given money and sent to buy the poison on the same day Sani died.
