...the rebirth of Justin Bieber
Earlier this year he thanked his mother for not giving up on him and for helping him end his 'stupid phase'.
But sadly, in a new interview with Billboard, Justin Bieber has shed light on how his once close relationship with Pattie Mallette has changed over the last two years.
The 21-year-old heartthrob said his connection with his mom is now 'pretty non-existing', explaining to the magazine Bieber said
: 'I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was.'
Justin's wildchild behaviour was well-documented between 2013 and 2014, including an arrest for driving under the influence, heavy partying and being convicted of egging a neighbour's house.
The Baby crooner added 'We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust.'
A born-again Christian, Pattie gave birth to Justin when she was just 17 years old and raised him as a single mother with her parents support in low-income housing in Ontario, Canada.
She is credited with nurturing the young boy's musical talent and would post videos of him online - one of which talent manager Scooter Braun spotted helping to launch Justin to international stardom.

He said of his mom: 'She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her.'
While he has been estranged from his mother, Justin is very close to his dad, Jeremy Bieber.
During the interview Justin also opened up about his struggle with fame and how it 'almost destroyed' him.
'It might seem awesome from the outside,' he told the publication, 'but I’m struggling.'
He explained: 'Certain things broke my trust with people....I felt like people were judging me all the time.
'I came out alive. I came out swinging. But I was close to letting [fame] completely destroy me,' the Baby singer revealed.
