iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C photos leak
An extensive array of images of the low-cost iPhone and the refreshed
full-price model next to the current-gen iPhone 5 are doing the rounds
online today, giving us what might be our best look at the handsets so
far.
Picked up on by GSM Arena after initially appearing on Chinese social-networking service Weibo, the handsets in the photos are non-functioning mock-up devices, fashioned from leaked rear panels, screens, bezel mounting frames and buttons.
Assuming what we’re looking bears some relation to the finished budget-priced iPhone 5C and full-priced iPhone, it’s noticeable that the forthcoming phones’ displays appear to be the same size as the existing iteration.
That flies in the face of long-standing rumours that Apple could supersize the iPhone in response to consumer demand for devices with more expansive screens.
The plastic iPhone 5C (the polycarbonate shell is clearly visible in the snaps) is set to come in a range of colour options, marking a shift away from Apple’s previous of offering smartphones in black or white colourways only.
It’s also expected to recycle parts from earlier editions to keep costs down.
The iPhone 5S, or 'iPhone 6' depending on who you believe, will retain the premium materials (aluminium and glass) and deluxe build quality of the iPhone 5. As the images attest, it’s thought to stick fairly fast to the current iPhone’s design template.
