Samuel Eto'o is set to complete his transfer to Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala, according to widespread reports in the British media. Chelsea are thought to have targeted Eto'o -- who will cost around £5 million, according to the Guardian -- after admitting defeat in manager Jose Mourinho's pursuit of Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney. Mourinho worked with Eto'o during their time together at Inter Milan, lifting a famous Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League Treble in 2010. Eto'o left Inter for Anzhi in 2011 in a deal that reportedly made the Cameroon international football's highest paid player. It is claimed the 32-year-old will take a significant pay cut to sign for Chelsea, with a 12-month contract, that The Sun reports will earn him £100,000-a-week, set to be penned. "There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose," Eto'o was quoted saying in the Daily Mail on August 12. |
