We're so glad they finally found her!
Twelve years ago, Sabrina Allen never came back to her father in Austin, Texas, after her mother took her away for a court ordered visitation. Sabrina was only five-years-old.
Now she's 17-years-old and she and her father, Greg Allen, got to be with each other for the first time since that original incident.
Police have tried for years to recover the girl, but it wasn't until four weeks ago that they got a tip the ex wife, Dara Llorens, was somewhere near Mexico City. Police put together an operation and eventually infiltrated the cramped apartment the mother was living and rescued the daughter!
It is believed that Sabrina Allen has never gone to school, and the father has no idea how his ex wife and his daughter were able to support themselves.
However, he's just happy she's home!
Here's what the father Greg Allen said during a news conference this past Wednesday:
"This has been a long road, what wound up, happened, is that we just got lucky…I'm going to ask [his daughter] if I can give her a hug. She … she is in pretty bad shape, my understanding…The last weeks have been quite a roller coaster, are they going to get away again? They've gotten away so many times. But they didn't get away and we are here, and so we're focused on what needs to come next…My understanding she has been subjected to intense parental alienation and we have a long road ahead of us."
The ex wife has been booked in Travis County Jail and will be charged with aggravated kidnapping.
Sabrina will be placed in a special facility to help her adjust to her new life.
We're sure there will be a big adjustment period for Sabrina, but we're just glad she'll be able to start immediately on that road to recovery!
And, if she chooses, to reunite with her father who lost her so many years ago.
