00.00 The hostages were apparently forced to make Youtube videos where they listed the hostage taker's demands while standing in front of black Islamic flag. One hostage was made to read from a script that included the line: "Our ISIS brother has been very kind to us." The videos have been taken down.

One account of the final moments of the siege is that the gunman fell asleep, giving some hostages a chance to slip out
Chris Reason, of Seven News, offers a different narrative. From his vantage point in the Seven News studios overlooking the cafe he says he saw the gunman split the hostages into two groups. While he was focused on one group the other group bolted out the door.

The thwarted hostage taker then turned his weapon on the remaining captives and started firing. A police sniper called out over the radio: "Window two, hostage down" and moments later the armed squad burst in the door.
23.15 Mike Baird, the premier of New South Wales, announces that a condolence book will be set up near Martin Place

Talking about those killed especially Caterina ,the source has this to say...A morning coffee at the Lindt Cafe was part of her daily routine and when news of the siege became public, her family contacted her via text message to find out if she was OK.
When she did not reply, they contacted her chambers only to find her absent.
They immediately knew the worst to be true — that she was one of the 17 people being held hostage in terrifying circumstances in a siege that shutdown Sydney yesterday.
Dawson had been having coffee with a colleague from Eight Selborne, a friend who is understand to be about midway through her pregnancy.
Hopeful of a positive outcome, her children were not told that their mother was being held hostage at the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place yesterday and were being informed of the tragic outcome this morning.
The names of the slain hostages are beginning to emerge in the Australian media:
Katrina Dawson, 38, was a highly-respected barrister and a mother-of-three who worked nearby and stopped at the cafe every morning for coffee. According to the Australian, her children are just eight, five and three.
Tori Johnson, 34, was the manager of the Lindt cafe. He's being hailed as a hero for apparently trying to wrestle Monis's gun away from him when the hostage taker began to doze off.
