In the news,report has it that,No fewer than 300 Boko Haram fighters have surrendered in Nigeria’s neighbouring country Cameroon , Cameroon’s defense ministry has said.
According to the country’s military spokesman Lt. Col. Didier Badjeck, the Islamist militants gave up their arms and asked for asylum in Cameroon..confirming this to be true, Badjeck also added that the fates of the terrorists are yet to be decided.
It would be recalled that fighters from neighboring Cameroon, Niger and Chad have been identified recently fighting alongside Nigeria’s homegrown Boko Haram sect.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 as Public Holiday to mark the Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magaji A.G., in Abuja on Thursday.
The statement stated that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, declared the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister urged Nigerians to use the period to reflect on the giant strides made by President Goodluck Jonathan in the development and building of a formidable nation and wished all Nigerians a happy independence celebration.

According to this fresh report from Military operatives in Biu local government area of Borno state ,JTF said,they have arrested 50 fleeing members of the Boko Haram fighters who were hidden under a truck heading towards Gombe.
