an ethereal collection of gowns adorned with swinging pearls, lace butterflies and silk roses at New York Fashion show

At the star-studded Marchesa spring 2014 show at the New York Public Library this afternoon, models sauntered by in princess-worthy ensembles, with all the couture details and intricate embellishments expected of the Georgina Chapman and Keren Creig-designed label.
Heads swiveled to-and-fro to follow the romantic looks coming down the winding catwalk, like a cream chiffon gown embroidered with blue and green flowers, a black lingerie-inspired number with Thirties fringe detailing, and a silver draped fringe skirt worn with a crystal and ribbon embroidered top.
The dramatic additions of black feather hair extensions, deep berry lipstick and temporary butterfly tattoos - designed by celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell - added a modern gothic edge to the vintage-inspired looks.

To create the romantic looks, the design duo took cues from vintage elegance, with fringe detailing and pearls evoking the Roaring Twenties, and tulle gowns worn over silk bias slip dresses recalling the Thirties.
Part fairy princess, part vintage goddess, each of the ensembles carried a marked sense of drama that had guests gasping in rapture.

Ms Chapman's film producer husband Harvey Weinstein, who arrived with two of his adorable daughters from his first marriage in tow, looked every inch the supportive husband as he admired the new collection.
Anna Wintour sat alongside him, wearing her signature dark shades to scrutinize the gowns.

For the color palette, the designers stuck to mostly delicate pastels, ladylike neutrals and metallics offset with touches of stark black.

Best seats in the house: Famous faces including Petra Nemcova, Olivia Palermo, Sheryl Crow and Courtney Love lined the front rows, with many donning their most embellished apparel to match the runway looks

Molly Sims looked stunning in a gold embroidered tunic, her hair swooped in waves to one side as she chatted to Lake Bell, who wore a purple strapless gown.
Courtney Love and Sheryl Crowe grazed elbows in their A-list seats, while Ashley Greene arrived late with Jamie Campbell Bower, which meant they had to stand behind the seats to watch the show.
And Petra Nemcova stunned in a Marchesa Notte navy lace cocktail dress.
