OUCH!.like a joke, Ariana Grande Totally Missed the Point About Mariah Carey Comparisons

Ariana Grande is fast earning a reputation for being one pint-sized diva. It's hard to know if all the gossip surrounding the "Problem" singer's supposedly outrageous demands are true, but when there's so much smoke, you have to start wondering if there's a fire
.
In fact, the 21-year-old former Nickelodeon star has been compared to the diva-iest diva of them all -- Mariah Carey -- and for more than just her vocal chops.
While Grande can definitely sing the house down à la Mariah and has received numerous comparisons regarding the duo's multi-octave vocal range, it's been the matching 'tudes that seem to be making all the headlines these days.

It was almost ironic that one of her "diva demands" for a recent cancelled interview was that the interviewers not ask her any questions about the Mariah Carey comparisons.
I guess she's shed that rumored requirement though, because she decided to open up to Us Weekly about her idol, and she claims she enjoys hearing how similar she is to her.

"Mariah has been a huge influence on me since I was a little girl," she confessed. "I've even done a cover of one of her songs. I don't think there are any negatives to being compared to one of the greatest vocalists of all time. It's honestly a great honor."

One has to wonder if she's grasping what she just said. No negatives to being compared to Mariah Carey? Is she trying to pay tribute, to show modesty, to somehow show people that she's not trying to become the new Mariah?
Because I'm pretty sure she wouldn't own up to the diva comparisons. She's even gone out of her way to deny them! So she might want to be careful about feeling "honored" by the Mariah Carey comparisons -- they're about more than her voice these days.
Do you think Ariana should be flattered by the association with Mariah?
