If your Facebook feed is currently flooded with photos of your friends' palms, this is why.
A book called Karmic Palmistry: Explore Past Lives, Soul Mates & Karma by Jon Saint-Germain, which is currently making its rounds on social media, claims that having the letter M represented on a person's palm could mean that they are a cut above the rest.
Considered to be a rather rare trait, it's thought that those who have the M are self-motivaters and have strong self-discipline, and are therefore more likely to be succeed in their careers. They're also supposed to be excellent judges of character. There is one caveat, however. These magical traits depend on whether you are left-handed or right handed
.
The "M" magic only applies to the opposite hand you write with, meaning that of left-handed people, you must have the "M" on your right hand to indicate the positive personality traits, and vice versa for righties.
If the "M" is on the hand you write with, well, you're out of luck!
Of course, the entire theory of the "M" only really applies to those who believe in palmistry (though Saint-Germain is hardly the first palm reader to identify the "M" as special).
Palmistry (also known as chiromancy) claims to be able to characterize people based on the appearance of their palms, as well as foretell their futures. The practice, which is thought to be born of Hindu astrology, has been found in cultures all over the world, including India, Tibet, China, Persia, Sumeria, ancient Israel and Babylonia.
