Taiwan has been hit by a terrible Typhoon(photos)

News reaching us says,a terrible storm  has slammed coastal areas of northern Taiwan with winds gusting to at least 150 miles per hour, based on weather observations and storm chasers who were in the area at the time. Tens of thousands of homes on the island lost power. Nearly 3,000 people, mostly tourists, were also evacuated from two popular resorts on outlying Green and Orchid islands off the coast
.

The government of Taiwan put 24,000 troops on standby and set up 100 shelters in the northeast of the island. It also preemptively cancelled classes and closed public offices in Taipei for Tuesday.
Taiwan has already been buffeted by at least three other typhoons this year so far. Typhoon Soudelor, the strongest storm so far this year that made a direct hit on the island nation, dumped upward of 50 inches of rain, leading to major flooding. Eight people died in Taiwan as a result of that storm.
The massive Category 4 storm Typhoon Dujuan hit Taiwan on Monday, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes as torrential rain and strong winds battered the east coast.
